Rend Lake road and bridge work begins in relocation project
Initial land clearing starts today as roads and bridges near Rend City are relocated before the lake fills. Tri-State Engineering Co and Boyd Brothers win a 684870 dollar contract to move gravel roads and Old Rend City Road. Two bridges will be torn down and replaced with longer spans over Sandusky Creek, yielding 4.65 miles of blacktopped road and a recreation area. Work should finish by year end. Burglars stole cigarettes and change from Farris Steak House in Johnston City after breaking a front door glass. Deputy Ova Greer said the loss amount was not determined.
