Crash Kills Logan Man During Chase
John R. Cook aged 19 of Atlanta Illinois died when his car veered off a rural road one mile west of the Logan County community after a one mile pursuit by police. Two companions were uninjured and held for questioning. Police said the chase began after beer cans were tossed from the car.

Crash on Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Kills Four
Four people die in a fiery collision on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia. A tractor trailer tire blowout apparently caused the crash on the two lane span over water.
