William McCoy Jr a federal prison chaplain and associate minister in Carbondale for a Father s Day program at 3 30 p m He has served in medical and mental health chaplaincies and is active in local ministerial groups Special music will feature the Men of Shiloh and area churches Other local church events and programs are listed for the day including honor sessions at First Christian Church and a 3 p m concert at Grand Avenue Baptist Church Carterville with solo performances by Greg Ashbaker

Salvation Army marks centennial crusade and nationwide growth
The Salvation Army prepares for its National Centennial Congress in Kansas City June 12 to 16 with about 12,000 Salvationists from 50 states and 20 countries. Since starting in 1880, the movement has grown to over 9,000 local centers of worship and aid led by leaders including George Scott Railton and William Booth.
