McWherter Builds Johnston City School Model
Retired Washington School custodian Martin McWherter, 70, of Johnston City, spent eight months building a 52 by 40 by 17 inch model of Washington School from about 6 000 plywood bricks and glue. The project, begun before the 1972 mine squeeze and finished before Christmas, uses scrap wood and salvaged materials with no formal plans.
