F M Lindsay 92 of 171 Southmoreland Place Decatur chairman emeritus of Lindsay-Schaub newspapers died at 1 35 p m Sunday. He led Decatur papers long civic career and served on state planning housing boards. Survived by wife Marjorie Ruth McKay Lindsay daughter Marjorie and son Merrill plus five grandchildren and a nephew. Service at 3 p m Wednesday at Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home Chapel Decatur.

Applications for two city posts in Carbondale the finance director and planning director close at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Acting heads have filled the roles during a City Manager Carroll J. Two Hurt in Carbondale Crash at Local Intersection
Steven Danish, 31, of 208 Friedline Drive Carbondale and John Curren, 66, of Mound City were hospitalized in satisfactory condition after a two vehicle crash near the intersection of 13 and the Country Club road at about 3 p.m. Sunday. Curren pulled onto the roadway, entering Danish’s path, state police said.

Grants Support SIU Research At Carbondale
Southern Illinois University Carbondale receives about $5,830 from six chemical firms to fund soils and crops studies led by George Kapusta at the STU Belleville Research Center in St. Clair County. Grants include 1380 from PPG Inc for nitrification inhibitors, 1500 from American Oil Co for micronutrient work in corn, 500 from Diamond Shamrock for herbicide chemistry, 1250 from Shell Chemical for weed control, 200 from Monsanto, and 1000 from Rhodia for Johnson grass control.
