Teen pleads innocent in Carterville murder case
Williamson County teen Thomas Dustin Hale age 16 pleaded not guilty at arraignment to first degree murder home invasion and residential burglary charged in the February death of 86 year old Inez Catherine Washburn of 557 North Division Carterville. A July 13 trial date was requested with a pre trial date set for July 5 Hale remains jailed on a 1 million dollar bond and faces additional traffic and license related charges.

A Golconda area crash left 44 year old Billy R. Smith dead after hitting a deer and veering into oncoming traffic on Illinois 146 near Waltersburg Road. Guillermina Steele 24, of Rosidlaire, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Investigating authorities described the Tuesday incident as still under inquiry.
