Stella Taylor, a 48 year old Fort Lauderdale marathon swimmer, stopped after 20 hours 22 miles from Orange Cay. She and her crew cited 12 foot waves and shifting Gulf Stream currents as the main obstacles, ending attempts that followed a previous endurance record. She said she would not try again this year.
