Detroit Parents Aim to Cut TV Time by Half
In Birmingham Michigan a group of Detroit suburb parents launches a two year plan to halve their children’s television watching. Backed by the Birmingham School District and teachers union the effort urges more active pastimes and school activities while distributing an informational pamphlet on TV harms to students and hosting community talks. The program aims to reduce viewing time and discipline problems by half and boost school grades with a shift toward jogging biking hiking and hobbies.
