Former West Frankfort Chief to Stand Trial on Misconduct Charge
Former West Frankfort police chief James Kinsman faced denial of his motion to dismiss the official misconduct charge in Benton circuit court. Judge Don Foster set July 7 as the trial date. The Illinois coal bill to curb west coal imports stalls in the Senate as utilities resist removing automatic fuel transportation charges. The measure would require rate consideration of fuel costs before the Illinois Commerce Commission to curb temptation for western coal use. Supporters include United Mine Workers, while Commonwealth Edison and others warn of cash flow problems raising consumer energy costs. Senator Buzbee seeks a full Senate vote to pull the bill from committee after failing to secure sufficient support.
