State budget ends year $16 million below estimate
Gov. Daniel Walker's budget director says the current fiscal year will close with $16 million less than the March budget forecast. The next year starting July 1 shows a $117 million cash balance instead of $133 million, due to $18 million in tax refund spending and $2 million in inheritance tax refunds, with other offsets and higher revenues mitigating part of the gap.
