Deadline passes for groundhog control cartridges in Jackson County
Jackson County farmers are reminded the June 1 deadline for groundhog control cartridges has passed. Illinois rules ban use after June 1 due to burrow occupancy by other animals. A demonstration school and up to date permit are required to purchase cartridges. Contact the Jackson County extension office to attend a school for next year. The Goose Bay picnic ground in Lake Glendale Recreation Area is now a group picnic area. Groups may reserve part or all of the ground with fees from $5, and group members may be exempt from the Lake Glendale entrance fee depending on designation by Ranger Harold Nygren.
