SIUC Faculty Senate approves major college changes
SIUC Carbondale Faculty Senate approved four of five recommended changes in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts, including restructuring from seven departments to four schools and moving the advanced technical studies program off campus. It rejected elimination of respiratory therapy technology and the off campus move. Provost Dunn said the changes proceed to the chancellor and then the board for a vote. The session drew objections about limited campus presence during summer intercession and calls to delay until September. The senate also backed adding urban forest management and forest hydrology programs and eliminating the mechanical engineering technology specialization in engineering.
