Illinois Board proposes five university systems and end of branch campuses
The Illinois Board of Higher Education and advisory panels propose a major restructuring of state higher education. Five systems would be created with own chancellors and presidents, including a University of Illinois system and a Regents Universities System. Branch campuses would be eliminated and new four year centers placed to serve commuter students. The Worthy Report also calls for appointed boards and a separation of chancellor offices from campuses.
