Deer shot after protecting jogger near SIU Carbondale campus
SIU Carbondale police and wildlife officials destroyed a female deer Tuesday morning after a campus officer shot it Monday night while protecting a jogger from an attacking animal. The officer was injured on scene and the deer fled toward campus land before being located and euthanized.
