Weather note for Plains to Great Lakes region
Showers are forecast Tuesday for parts of the upper Plains including Montana Wyoming and Colorado. A wide band from Northeast Texas to the fringes of the Great Lakes will see showers turning to rain. In Southern Illinois the high Sunday reached 85 degrees with a 66 degree low before today. The 9 am temperature stood at 72 degrees. Sunset tonight is 8:17 pm with sunrise Tuesday at 5:22 am and sunset Tuesday at 8:18 pm.

Agronomy Day Set Friday at Ewing Center
Agronomy Day will be held Friday at the Ewing Demonstration Center ten miles northeast of Benton. The program starts at 9 a.m. with tours concluding about 11 30 a.m. Farmers are asked to bring samples of insect disease or weed problems. Topics include herbicides crop diseases fertility wheat and soybean varieties and soil loss. Further details are available from area extension offices.

Brookport man injured in Massac County crash
A Massac County man and Brookport resident Danny O Hara, 25, suffered major injuries after a one vehicle wreck on a rural road. The 5 30 a m crash at Big Bay Road and New Columbia Road sent O Hara to Massac Memorial Hospital and then to Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah while 24 year old passenger Mark Lance was treated for minor injuries and released.

EMT classes offered at John A Logan College
