Motorcycle Hits Deer On Illinois 37 Injures Mount Vernon Rider
A Mount Vernon man, George P. Payton, 34, was seriously injured when his motorcycle struck a deer on Illinois 37 about 1.5 miles north of Ewing Road. He was thrown, the bike caught fire, and he was hospitalized at Good Samaritan in Mount Vernon. State police from Du Quoin responded around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Corvette Cruise Displays 50 Years of Corvettes Along Ohio River
The River to River Corvette Club and the Ohio River Scenic Byway Commission host a fundraising Corvette cruise from Equality to Golconda on Saturday. Cars from 1950s to 2004 will be shown 2 to 4 p.m. at Golconda Marina. raffles raise funds for the Byway and Golconda Main Street. Corvettes start at Equality’s Leonard's Restaurant at 11 a.m. and travel via Glen O. Jones Lake and Cave-In-Rock to Golconda.
