Herald Singers plan first tour from Murphysboro church
The Herald Singers youth choir from United Methodist Church Murphysboro launches a two month tour at 7 p.m. Tuesday, ending June 13 with a 6 30 p.m. concert at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. The group includes a pianist and 23 high school students from eight area churches directed by Rev. Bruce Phillips. They perform in New Harmony Indiana Cincinnati Ohio Lawrenceville and West Frankfort before the final ice cream social. The same weekend Church of God Illinois Murphysboro marks its fourth anniversary with services led by Rev. William E. Brown, a noon pot luck, and a 2 p.m. gospel program by Gene Fuller Family from Mount Vernon, followed by an evening service broadcast on WXAN. First Christian Murphysboro hosts summer informal worship at 7 p.m. Sundays with hymns prayers and a study from Tim LaHaye How to Win Over Low Mood instead of a sermon.
