The Supreme Court refused to allow Illinois officials to cut off welfare abortion funding for most poor women under Medicaid. The ruling follows a lower court decision striking down the Hyde Amendment and Illinois law, with the Court deferring further action and addressing related death sentence and union expulsion rulings.
