Two auto crashes claim lives in Illinois Friday
A Springfield couple died after a two car crash on I 57 three miles south of Benton about 8 10 p m. Mary E Moore 60 and Thomas Moore 65 both of Springfield died at Franklin Hospital in Benton. Joseph Hickman 60 of Benton and Sue Knutsen 49 of Benton in stable condition. In a separate Jefferson County crash Marie Reynolds 73 of Woodlawn died in a three car collision on Illinois 15.

Area Man Held on Gun Charge in Carbondale
Russell Scott Jenkins, 31, of Carbondale, was jailed in Jackson County on a charge of unlawful use of weapons. Police said he was seen about 10 p.m. Friday walking down South Illinois Avenue with a .22 caliber pistol in his pocket. He is held in the county jail in lieu of a 100 dollar bond.
