Mortician's Zoo of Stuffed Animals Reveals Dongola Roots
Elmer Ford, 53, a Dongola mortician and former city official, gathers a private menagerie of taxidermy at Ford funeral home. His hunting background dates to 1925, with stories of owls, osprey, hornets nests, and a gray fox. He recalls roads, WPA improvements, and preaching at two services when no minister was available. He has three children, including son Joe Ford in Korea, and notes Dongola’s population has shrunk by about 200. He remains content with his community and his zoo.
