Herrin church members celebrated the first service in their new building after two years at the civic center. The First Christian Church of Herrin hosted morning services at the new site on Illinois 148, just across from Herrin Tire and Muffler about a mile north of Illinois 13.
The Herrin First Christian Church traces to 1864 with evangelist Samuel Wilson visiting errin’s Prairie. The 1898 church building sits at Park Avenue and Maple Street on a $40 lot as Rev. Ron Henwood calls the move a long prayed for day and a divine led journey.
