Lawyer says new Franklin trial is wasteful in South Bend
In South Bend Indiana an attorney defending Joseph Paul Franklin calls a federal civil rights indictment a waste of taxpayers money. Franklin, already serving four consecutive life terms for slayings of two black men in Salt Lake City, faces a potential 10 year sentence if convicted on the Jordan case. The indictment alleges he shot VerNon E Jordan a black man and former head of the Urban League outside a Fort Wayne motel on May 29 1980. Bond set at 100000 with arraignment pending.
