Co-Op Bill Bypasses Committee Advances to Floor in Illinois
The Illinois House discharged the Public Utilities Committee on a bill to exempt 27 electric cooperatives from regulation by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Rep. James D. Holloway said repeated failed attempts to gain committee action prompted the move to the floor by a 92-47 vote, despite opposition from two Illinois power companies. The measure would leave co-ops outside current Commission jurisdiction.
