Swede honored with Jewish prize for bravery
The New York Times notes Raoul Wallenberg, missing Swedish hero of the Holocaust, awarded the Roger Joseph Prize worth $10,000 at Hebrew Union College, honoring his saving of about 20,000 Hungarian Jews. Wallenberg’s sister Nina Lagergren accepted the prize. Susan Tabor and Burton Joseph attended. Wallenberg was last seen with Soviet officers in Budapest in 1945 and reportedly died in a Soviet prison in 1947.
