Turkish police free 14 year old girl from terrorists in Istanbul
Police broke into a third floor apartment after a three minute battle freeing Sibel Erkan time, injuring two young terrorists. One suspect, Huseyin Cevahir, died. Mahir Cayan remained critically wounded. The girl escaped unharmed but shaken, and was treated for shock after the rescue.

Fire touches utility pole in Du Quoin brief outage
A fire at 2:55 a.m. Thursday on Illinois and South streets damaged a utility pole. The incident interrupted service for three Illinois Power Company customers after the street light circuit shorted and ignited the pole, a power company spokesman said.
