Democrats pledge Kerry as next president at convention
At the Democratic National Convention in Boston, speakers frame John Kerry as a wartime hero and future commander in chief. Lt. Kerry's former swiftboat captain and Rev. Alston praise his service while Gore urges voters to channel anger over the 2000 recount toward Kerry. Carter and Clinton defend Kerry’s optimism against Bush policies.
