Man linked to Carbondale racial tensions heads to trial
Patrick Gant a 27 year old Carbondale man faces Jackson County charges from a February 1 domestic battery incident in downtown Carbondale and will go to trial August 5 on related matters. He was previously charged after an April 22 house party where police were attacked and rock and bottle throwing occurred as officers attempted arrests. Gant argued minority students feel unwelcome in local bars, a claim that helped spur a city task force on race relations.
