Springfield man tests Illinois sex discrimination ban
Henry L. Greenholdt, a former Illinois Bell supervisor, sues over alleged sex discrimination in a transfer dispute. In a Sangamon County court, he argues the 1970 Illinois Constitution Bull of Rights ban on sex bias in hiring and transfers was violated when Bell moved or fired him after he refused a Chicago transfer. Bell contends he chose to stay in Springfield and that transfers were not based on sex but on employee availability and community roots. The judge requires time to weigh evidence and will rule later.
