Southern Illinois crew trains in high angle rescue on campus
On Wednesday 34 firefighters from the Southern Illinois Regional Response Team practived high angle rescue at SIUC Brush Towers. Funded by Homeland Security and the Illinois Terrorism Task Force, the team trains in rope, confined space, trench and collapse rescues to respond across Illinois. The exercise included a 185 foot ascent of Schneider Hall and a 520 foot top to bottom pull using a Haul Team, with emphasis on rope rescue and rapid deployment for water, grain bin, and climbing incidents.
