Prosecutor declines to charge Al Unser Jr in assault claim

Marion County Prosecutor Scott Newman said there was insufficient evidence from the 911 call, statements, and photos to convict Al Unser Jr. after his girlfriend accused him of hitting her and leaving her stranded on a highway. Soto, Albuquerque resident, cooperated, Unser has declined comment. Unser won the Indy 500 in 1992 and 1994 and sits sixth in IRL standings.
