Historian to present Giant City slides in Carbondale
Southern Illinois historian Kay Ripplemeyer Tippey will show Giant City Lodge construction slides at Giant City State Park Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Saturday. The talk covers the 1930s Civil Conservation Commission project and New Deal jobs. Refreshments, free admission, tickets at Carbondale Public Library. An optional 1 mile hike to Stonefort follows led by Jenny Skufca.

Student reports alleged sexual assault on SIU Carbondale campus
A 17 year old reported to SIU Carbondale police that she was sexually assaulted July 12 at Abbott Hall between 6 30 p m and 2 30 a m. The suspect’s name was not released by police as the case remains under investigation.
