Perry Board seeks funds to cover payroll and animal care
Perry County faces a tight cash flow as the July payroll nears. Treasurer Bill Taylor outlined reserves of 41,633.73 with 37,497.10 in bills due, leaving a 4,136.63 surplus while warning of a 200,000 payroll. State and local tax receipts are expected to fill gaps, but 260,000 in tax warrants must be repaid first. Citizens urged improvements at the animal control facility citing drainage, excrement exposure, and parvovirus, calling for better cages and infrastructure. The board plans to address these issues at the next meeting.
