Mount Vernon honors Kirkpatrick as UN ambassador
Jeane Kirkpatrick, a Mount Vernon High School graduate, was celebrated by hometown friends and Rotary clubs, receiving a plaque, a Bend Lake College associate degree, and a resolution from the Illinois General Assembly. Attendees included Rep. Paul Simon and James Brady’s parents, with plans for a tape to send to Brady in Washington. Kirkpatrick discussed privacy, her role on the Reagan team, and her view of the United Nations as a force in world politics.
