Father seeks sentence reduction for two brothers
Ken Gravatt of Marion urged the Illinois Prisoner Review Board to shorten his sons Darrin and Michael Gravatt's sentences for a October 1988 crime spree that included abducting a 28 year old woman at gunpoint and a high speed Florida car chase. He argued the consecutive Illinois and Florida terms are excessive given rehabilitation efforts and petitions with about 150 letters of support. Board members pressed for acknowledgment of the kidnapping’s trauma and noted the brothers had already served 25 years for Florida convictions while Illinois terms were to run after Florida visits.
