Mourning the twins in Singapore after failed separation
In Singapore, a dozen women in black headscarves prepared the bodies of Ladan and Saleh Bijani for return to Iran in separate caskets. Tributes poured in as hundreds mourned the 29 year olds, born joined at the head, whose risky adult separation surgery ended tragically. Muslim nurses helped purify the bodies for the 4000 mile voyage home, with Qurans placed in each coffin and caskets sealed as the community mourned.
