Solar pilot completes first solar Channel crossing
American pilot Stephen Ptacek completed the 185 mile crossing from France to England in 52 hours aboard the Solar Challenger. The craft with 16,000 photoelectric cells and a 2.7 horsepower electric motor landed at Manston Air Force Base on a sunny afternoon.
