IRL upholds Castroneves as Indy 500 winner
Indianapolis officials rejected Paul Tracy’s appeal over Helio Castroneves’s victory in the 2002 Indy 500. IRL president Tony George said Barnhart’s yellow flag ruling was final under the rules, while Tracy’s team disputed the timing of the pass and vowed to consult lawyers. Green, Castroneves’ owner, pushed back, claiming tape evidence favored Tracy.
