Pinckneyville fish plant seeks buyer via eBay listing
The Pinckneyville fish processing co op explored listing the building on eBay to raise 12 000 to 15 000 for a commercial broker. Listing drew nearly 4 000 hits with few inquiries and no bids before expiring. The co op, formed in 1999 with state funding and city support, still owes about 309 323 and hopes to recoup funds by a buyer or city takeover. The plant once employed up to 50, with debts largely settled, and continues limited technical support from two staff to aid local fish farmers. The Illinois Agriculture Dept reports no FY05 funding for the co op.
