The Marion school board approved a nonbinding resolution urging Wednesday be kept free for family time. Board president Todd Goodman noted concerns over past changes and stated this is a guideline, not policy, to avoid Wednesday meetings when possible.
Aaron D. Wright, a 31 year old former Zeigler police officer, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge in Franklin County Circuit Court. Domestic battery and resisting arrest were dismissed. Wright was arrested Aug 12 after a 911 call in Royalton and was later released on bond. The case followed a three count indictment issued Sept 13 after a grand jury reviewed the evidence. Wright must obtain an alcohol assessment and attend anger management counseling as part of the disposition. The incident occurred while he was on medical leave from the Zeigler police force.
