Garwood says Americans still held in Vietnam
Marine Pfc. Robert Garwood's court martial heard from a Navy psychiatrist that he believes Americans remain prisoners in Vietnam and that information should be released. Capt. Benjamin R. Ogburn testified Garwood was not fully debriefed on other captives and indicated POWs blamed him for his captivity incident. The defense argues Garwood was tortured and intimidated, with the case continuing after a 10-week trial.

Oil thief fled after three year sentence order in Chicago
A 42 year old man named William Siedlecki who stole a $1.55 can of motor oil jumped probation and disappeared authorities say. He had served five months in Cook County Jail and was on two years probation for entering an auto parts store through an unlocked door. The Illinois Supreme Court ruled the Circuit Court lacked authority to place him on probation and said he must serve at least three years in prison due to prior burglary convictions. Public Defender James Palermo called him a poor devil and said he did not want to know his whereabouts.
