Members of the Illinois World Cup tae kwon do team seek sponsorship for a trip to Cancun Mexico. Athletes need individual and corporate support with top four in each category advancing to pre Olympic trials in Athens Greece. Visitation Center Seeks Grant For Confident Expansion
Schimpf says the center, under a five year Herrin school district agreement, seeks grant funding to expand parenting classes and add a computer resource area to aid job searches. The center operates five days a week with some evenings and Saturdays, arranging about 20 visits weekly in a collaboration with The Women’s Center in Carbondale and the courts.

Du Quoin High School will seek a new principal after the unexpected resignation of David Skocy effective June 30. Skocy, who has served six years as principal, will join Mattoon School District as curriculum director to be closer to his family. The board also accepted resignations of J R Kelly and Nancy Hirsh retroactive to 2002 and discussed next year’s bus contract and a lease renewal with the Du Quoin Youth Club for bleachers.
