Perfect Attendance Winners Spark Subway Prize At Pinckneyville
Dustin Crews and Lyndsey McKinstry won cash prizes for perfect attendance during December at Pinckneyville High School where 179 students had no absences. The district plans more classes, a new journalism class, a monthly Panther Paws, and a revised master schedule for 2002-03 to boost enrollment and performance.

Immanuel Lutheran School student Chris McCaslin won the school level oral geography bee and will advance to the written phase. Top 100 scorers pass the written test to reach the state bee on April with national finals May 21 and 22, in Washington DC with prize money and scholarships.

A October football pep rally at Wal-Mart in Du Quoin raised 1100 for the high school. Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart sponsored as part of a national contest. the store display earned 100 and the school was selected among 32 nationwide to receive 1000.
