NCAA Must Stay In Wilson Suit In Illinois Court

Circuit Court Judge Harry Clem ruled the National Collegiate Athletic Association must remain a defendant in Dave Wilson’s lawsuit against Illinois for his ineligibility. The NCAA argued it has little Illinois activity, but Clem noted NCAA rules affect member schools like Illinois and the case proceeds in state court. Wilson was academically ineligible after transferring from a California junior college, though he played 1980 under a court injunction and the trial date is later this year.
