Surgeons save a life via remote brain surgery in Afghanistan
Dr. Rubelowsky and Dr. Lal guided a heart surgeon by phone during a brain operation in a dusty Afghan base. The team treated Afghan civilians, many children with injuries and infections, while planes landed in risky corkscrew approaches. Rubelowsky recalled tents, dust, and the desire to return home to his family after mobilization.
