Study links dietary cholesterol to heart attack risk
An analysis of 1900 middle aged American men followed for over two decades links high cholesterol intake to greater coronary death risk. Higher polyunsaturated fat intake protected against early heart disease death without raising cancer risk, while saturated fats raised blood cholesterol and heart disease risk. The study used a 28 day dietary history and found independent dietary effects on coronary risk even after adjusting for age weight smoking blood pressure and other factors.

Monogamy May Precede Early Primates, Says Anthropologist
Kent State anthropologist J C Owen Lovejoy proposes that a shift from polygamy to monogamy predates key human traits. Pair bonding may have driven erect posture tool use and brain expansion, he told an AAAS panel. Fossil data and monotonic fertility signals support his theory of cooperative male provisioning and child rearing shaping human intelligence and language.
