Goreville seeks second fire truck

Goreville seeks a second reliable fire truck after a Christmas Day fire destroyed a mobile home two miles west of town occupied by the Sullivan family. The village policy to avoid out of town calls left the home unprotected as Marion and Buncombe crews could not arrive in time.

Village approves $100 monthly raise for 12 workers

The West City village board on Monday approved a across the board $100 monthly raise for about 12 employees. In other action the board authorized providing office space to Volunteer Services Inc in the new utility building. VSI administers federal funds aiding elderly residents in Jefferson Franklin and Williamson Counties including winterizing homes and paying utility bills.
