Carbondale case linked to Iranian inmate’s death in jail
Iranian prisoner Mohammad Balazadeh, awaiting trial for the August 1980 Savoy murders, hanged himself in the Champaign County Jail on December 12. He reportedly told a fellow inmate of discarding a woman’s body in a bathtub in Carbondale in 1975, prompting renewed inquiries into Theresa M. Clark’s murder at the Ambassador Apartments. Carbondale investigators weigh Balazadeh’s possible link to the Clark case, while noting limited corroboration.
