Artist eyes painting O'Hare as giant city exhibit
Chicago artist Sachio Yamashita, famed for transforming water towers into art, seeks city backing to turn O'Hare International Airport into a vast art exhibit. He envisions tunnels, waiting rooms, runways, and terminals covered with paintings, sculpture, and giant graphics, crowing that travelers should leave the airport with a nostalgic, pleasant impression. He also aims to complete his 1000 Water Tower Project, painting about 984 towers to go, echoing his past works in Neligh, Nebraska and other towns.
