Marion City Lake rises as rain, Herrin water aid city
Rain tops off Marion City Lake draining since August from Herrin City Lake while the city buys about 250000 gallons daily from Herrin since October. Officials say snow melt and rain kept spillway from overflowing, delaying water restrictions and avoiding shutdowns of car washes. Lake level rose to 2.84 feet below spillway last week after two inches of rain, first time over spillway since June.
