Three Held On Theft Charges In Illinois Rail Yard
Three area men Charles Pender of Alto Pass Charlie Cripps of Grand Tower and William Wooldridge of Jonesboro are jailed on petty larceny counts for stealing spikes angle bars tie plates and bolts from Illinois Central Railroad near Grand Tower. Deputy Arch Edwards said Pender and Cripps confessed while Wooldridge denied the charges. The equipment was hidden near Sand Ridge and sold later as scrap iron to a Murphysboro yard. Petit larceny charges were filed today by State's Attorney William Ridgeway.
